Aquamen Drop an Exhibition to Bulldogs

Despite Good Show

By Richard S. Weisman

Hampered by a lack of practice and the absence of a key starter, the Harvard water polo team dropped an exhibition contest to Yale by a 22-11 margin on Saturday afternoon in the I.A.B. pool.

"They were just in better shape than we were," explained Crimson co-captain Warren Otto, who was sidelined by a virus.

Despite a balanced attack which featured goals by all seven starters and a strong bench performance, the Crimson aquamen succumbed to a second-half rally by the powerful Bulldogs.

Otto called the game "the best water polo I've seen on the East Coast so far," and added that the Crimson "played most of the game up to Yale's standards."

"When the time comes, we may really give them a run for their money," he said.

The time will come this weekend, when the underwater aces face a rematch against the Bulldogs at the Yale Invitational Tourney in New Haven.
