Now look, whoever is out there reading this, do you seriously think you're going to have any time at all this coming week to go looking at pieces of cloth with colored oil splotched on them? Why don't you give up while you're ahead and go back to your Plato. I may be spending a lot of time in the Egyptology library at the MFA because all the books for my paper on Ashurbanipal are mysteriously missing from Widener, but I would hope the rest of you have better things to do with your time.

If one of those things is the Fine Arts 13 looking assignment, the following information may be useful:

1. The MFA is open Tuesday and Thursday nights and is free from 10-1 on Sundays.

2. The Busch-Reisinger is closed on Sundays.

3. Watch out for your roommate's girlfriend from Wellesley who took one of these courses last year and thinks she knows everything. She doesn't. For example, the naked lady in the painting after Van Eyck at the Fogg is not the Virgin Mary.

4. Don't believe everything a museum guard tells you. But if you get bored they're the best people to start conversations with.

5. The food at the MFA snackbar is awful and overpriced.

6. Read L'Orange's essay--there's been a question on it three out of the past four years.

7. After three hours, the seats in the Norton lecture hall get very uncomfortable. Wear padding.

8. Remember the difference between the Parthenon and the Pantheon.

9. No, you're not hearing things. That early Christian fresco chapel at the MFA has a choir recording hidden in in a closet somewhere that starts and stops playing on a schedule only it understands.

10. Enjoy. You took this as a gut, remember?

Good Luck to you all.
