Harvard Square Arts Festival, an annual and entirely free festival, expands this year to include more participation from the Cambridge community.

This weekend is music. A jazz parade on Thursday starts at Harvard Square and winds up at a jazz concert near the Weeks Bridge at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, there's a Renaissance crafts fair on Arrow Street starting at 10 a.m., a wide range of instrument workshops at Agassiz house at 2 p.m., a Courtyard Folk Forum at something called the TAC courtyard at 2 p.m. A rock-blues concert featuring Roxbury Crossing will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday on the Charles bank, again near the Weeks Bridge.

Sunday there's a Charles River rock-folk concert at 2 p.m. and a Renaissance-and-classical concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Agassiz House living room.

Next week is drama, beginning on Wednesday with a playwright's platform at 7:30 p.m. at the Loeb Ex.

From Renaissance lute to folk to jazz, this week's free concerts sound very promising.

Freshman Arts Festival, this year, comprises two musical events: a classical concert of Mozart, Beethoven and Ravel, by Steve Drury on Friday at 8:30 p.m., and a jazz concert (with refreshments) on Sunday at 3 p.m.--both in the small dining room of the Freshman Union.
