Resurrected Bruins Whip Flyers, 5-1

Bobby Orr broke out of a scoring slump with two goals and two assists as the Boston Bruins outmuscled Philadelphia, 5-1, last night at the Garden to stay alive in the National Hockey League playoffs with the upstart Flyers.

Boston narrowed the Flyers's lead in the series to 3-2, with the sixth game to be played in Philadelphia Sunday afternoon.

Smarting from three consecutive losses, the Bruins came out and beat the Flyers at their own game in a virtual brawl.

Philadelphia goalie Bernie Parent frustrated the Bruins all night despite a hectic 17-shot Bruin attack in the first period. Boston inched ahead on a short-handed goal by Gregg Sheppard who Orr set up at 8:14.

A quarter of the way through the second frame, the Flyers got their lone score from Bill Clement and then Orr took over.

First he flipped home a backhand shot then five minutes later made it 3-1 on a long slap shot.

Ken Hodge and Don Marcotte capped off the Boston scoring with goals at the end of the final period.
