Senior pitcher Mike O'Malley (right) was elected captain of the varsity baseball team last week, replacing Jim Stoeckel who was declared ineligible to compete by the Ivy League after he had signed a pro football contract.
O'Malley sports a 2-1 record this season after losing a tough decision to Yale last Saturday. Last year the right hander had a perfect 7-0 slate and a 0.83 ERA that ranked as the third lowest in the nation.
Before Saturday, O'Malley's last loss came in the last game he pitched as a sophomore, against Connecticut in the NCAA play offs. The new captain ranks as the sixth leading strike-out pitcher in the nation.
