Doc Medich pitched a four-hitter and the New York Yankees scored six runs in the sixth-inning to spark a 6-1 triumph over the Boston Red Sox yesterday.

Boston's Rick Wise blanked the Yankees on four hits until the sixth, when Bobby Murcer's lead-off single and Ron Blomberg's second double of the game touched off the big inning. Medich lost his bid for a shutout when Bernie Carbo his second homer of the season, with two out in the ninth.
