Elias J. Corey, Emory Professor of Organic Chemistry, will receive the George Ledlie Prize for his contributions to the synthesis of complex molecules.
Harvard presents this award every two years to the member of the Faculty who "has by research, discovery or otherwise made the most valuable contribution to science or in any other way for the benefit of mankind."
Corey's achievements include the development of a theory of synthetic analysis that chemists may use to formulate the most efficient means of assembling intricate organic molecules.
