B.U. Tops Cornell, 7-3; Terriers to Face Harvard

By William E. Stedman

Boston University earned a rematch with Harvard tonight in the ECAC finals by crushing Cornell in convincing fashion, 7-3. Vic Stanfield and Terry Meagher led the Terriers with two goals each.

Peter Marzo started things off for B.U. with a goal at 3:58 and Stanfield made it 2-0 at 17:57. Meagher upped the score to 3-0 after only 30 seconds into the second period and Cornell did not get onto the scoreboard until 4:06 when David Teace narrowed B.U.'s lead to two.

Mike Eruzione and Meagher broke the game open with goals in the second and third period. Cornell scored next at 6:39 of the third as Bob Murray tallied on the power play. But by then it was too little, too late for the Big Red.

Stanfield picked up his second at 8:08 of the third followed by a Cornell score from Doug Marrett at 13:37. Bill Robbins capped the scoring at 17:44 to make it 7-3 Boston University.
