The Harvard Square Development Task Force yesterday released the names of seven men--including three Harvard professors--who will serve on the group's "academic-technical" committee to evaluate the Kennedy Library's environmental impact study.
The committee will examine the methods of data collection and interpretation used by C.E. Maguire Inc., the General Services Administration (GSA) consultant firm conducting the library study, Oliver Brooks, chairman of the task force, said yesterday.
The three Harvard professors on the committee are Roger D. Revelle, Saltonstall Professor of Population Policy; John F. Kain, professor of Economics; and Charles M. Haar, Brandeis Professor of Law.
Kain, an expert in urban economics, said yesterday he joined the committee because the Kennedy Library is a "project of major concern to the Cambridge community."
The economist said he has had extensive experience with impact studies. He cited as an example his recent work on an evaluation of the proposed expansion of New York's Kennedy International Airport.
Haar and Revelle were out of town yesterday and unavailable for comment.
G. d'andelot Belin, a lawyer and former Cambridge city councillor, last night confirmed he will serve as chairman of the task force committee.
Brooks said he has not completed selection of the committee. "There are still two or three people I am waiting to hear from," he said.
In other news related to the Kennedy Library, Gerald Gillerman, attorney for the task force, said yesterday the GSA will send a representative to a Tuesday night meeting with Cambridge groups to investigate allegations that Maguire altered a report under pressure from its client, the Massachusetts Port Authority. The GSA failed to appear Monday at a similar meeting called by the task force.
Others named to the group yesterday are Michael Baram, MIT professor of Civil Engineering; Jack P. Ruina, MIT professor of electrical engineering; and Theodore Monacelli, a Cambridge architect.
