Cliffe Swimmers Ride Winning Tide; Sato Set for Meet

By Anne D. Neal

Last Thursday was a stand-out day for Radcliffe swimmers and divers as they ended their season with successful performances in two swimming and diving competitions.

In what coach Alice G. McCabe termed an "exceptional performance," junior Nancy Sato placed sixth in the one-meter and seventh in the three-meter diving competitions at the Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships at Springfield College.

Sato's performance at Springfield topped 42 others, and gained her a place at the AAU National swimming and diving competition next week in Madison, Wisconsin.

The performances of four Radcliffe swimmers at Northeastern University Thursday also netted good results in a meet which the swimmers barely pulled off, 53-50.

Sophomores Kyle Patterson and Kris Krendl and junior Marie Roehm, however, put in outstanding performances and together pulled off a total of six first-place finishes. Patterson won the 50 and 100-meter freestyle events, and Krendl came away with firsts in the 100 individual medley and 100 backstroke competitions.
