The continuing saga of Jim Fitzsimmons's Harvard basketball career came to an official end yesterday with the announcement of the final balloting for the Pizza Hut Basketball Classic. Fitzsimmons finished way back at 59th place in the East, amassing 47,499 votes.
The senior ex-varsity sharpshooter finished ahead of Donald Smith of Dayton (42,057), Butch Taylor of Jacksonville (41,318), Aron Stewart from Richmond (40,295) and Marcelous Starks of Murray State who picked up 38,162 votes.
The top Hut vote getter in the East was Bobby Jones of North Carolina with 197,808, while Bill Walton tallied 303,682 votes in the West balloting.
The game will be played on April 1 in the Las Vegas, Nev., Convention Center.
