J. Allen Soares, varsity hockey coach for Brown University, was relieved of his coaching duties yesterday. Freshman hockey coach Richard L. Toomey will succeed Soares as varsity coach.

Rod Commons, director of sports information for Brown, said yesterday that Soares's removal was not a direct result of Wednesday's game against Harvard, "but a continuation of circumstances throughout the season."
