Alan M. Dershowitz, professor of law, said that the legalization of marijuana is important because it "takes away from the government the power to selectively prosecute people that it doesn't like for other reasons."
He cited a case in Oklahoma where the head of an underground newspaper is serving a 20-year term for the possession of marijuana as an example of selective prosecution.
All three men are advisors to the Committee for a Sane Drug policy, a reform group actively working for the passage of legislation to legalize marijuana.
