Ex-Crimson Star Dave Hynes Joins The Boston Bruins

Former Harvard hockey star David Hynes suited up with the Boston Bruins last night in their game with the Atlanta Flames.

Hynes played left wing for the Crimson and led the varsity in goals and assists in his sophomore and junior years.

He was selected as the most valuable player in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference in his sophomore year and was asked to participate in the Winter Olympics at Japan in 1972.

Hynes was later named All-American after he led the East in goals per game with a 2.36 average.

The hockey star was drafted by the Bruins in 1971. He played most of this season with the Bruins' American Hockey League affiliate, the Boston Braves.

Hynes became the first player from Harvard to play on the Bruins' squad in 40 years.
