Yardlings Clobber Dean; Three Score in Doubles

The Harvard freshman basketball squad rolled to its second victory in as many starts this season with a convincing rout of Dean Junior College yesterday afternoon, 79-43.

The only bright spot for the Dean cagers, who trailed 39-18 at the half, was Tommy Farmer, who yielded a team high of 17 points in the contest. He could have sued for non-support, however, as the next highest total on the Dean team came from Rick Fesick with a whopping five points.

The Yardlings, on the other hand, had three scorers in the teens, led by Roosevelt Cox's 17 points. Cox hit on six of 11 from the field and five of seven free throws. He received some fine help from Steve Irion, who chipped in 12, and Glenn Fine who notched 14 in the runaway.

Harvard hit a phenomenal 83 per cent of its free throws, while the hapless Deans could manage but a miserable 47 per cent from the foul line.

Gary Ackerman was the top rebounder for the Crimson, hauling down ten of his team's 52. Cox picked up nine rebounds to cap a strong performance for coach Mike Jarvis's unbeaten squad.
