John Havlicek poured in 40 points and sparked the Boston Celtics to a 128-110 pasting of the Portland Trailblazers before 12,134 fans at Boston Garden last night.

Boston blitzed the Trailblazers at the outset of the second period, outscoring Portland 18-4, to burst to a 44-32 lead. The Celtics maintained their edge and held a 56-49 halftime margin and were never headed.

Jo Jo White chipped in 21 points and Paul Westphal added 14. Wicks led Portland scorers with 24.
