A successful last-minute desperation power-play by the Bruins last night gave them a thrilling 4-4 tie with the St. Louis Blues at the Garden.
For the second consecutive night, Boston lifted goalie Ross Brooks in the waning seconds of the game. Both times, the Bruin's one-man advantage has yielded game-tying tallies.
The Blues sneaked two first-period goals past the Boston defense to take an early lead.
By the third period, the Bruins had come back to knot the score at 3-3. But at 11:15 of the final frame, Pierre Plante fed Ace Bailey for the fourth St. Louis goal.
The Bruins then sent six skaters onto the ice in the final minute. With a scant 34 seconds remaining, Ken Hodge shot a pass to Bruins star Bobby Orr.
Orr beat St. Louis goalie John Davidson with a 35-foot backhander to lift the Bruins into the tie.
The goal was Orr's fourth of the season. He scored a hat trick in Boston's 5-5 standoff with Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.
The Bruins now boast a four-game undefeated streak.
