The other freshman who signed the petition said he did not see the point of establishing a ROTC unit.

"I don't think anyone wants to join ROTC here. It would bring the military back on campus and make it seem that Harvard supports ROTC," he said.

Of the others interviewed, one said he had not even thought about the issue, and another said he would not care whether ROTC were reinstated or not. The four other freshmen were all opposed to re-establishing Harvard ROTC.
