8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Lots of things--like tootsie roll pops and Harvard lacrosse seasons--get sweet towards the end, and tomorrow the Crimson stickmen (3-9) will attempt to complete a sweep of their last four games when they host Yale at 2 p.m. on the B-School field.
Tomorrow's game means nothing, unfortunately, in terms of post-season play, as only one team from the New York-New England area will go on to meet the boys from Maryland. Hofstra, which defeated Navy earlier this season, will probably be that one.
Meanwhile, the Elis and Dartmouth, whom Harvard outlasted, 7-5, on Wednesday, are both scrambling to avoid the dank Ivy cellar. If the Bulldogs lose tomorrow, they're on the bottom for the first time since the Ivy League lacrosse inception in 1956.
Although ranked sixth in New England last week over Harvard's ninth place, Eli scoring has been dismal, with a 3.4 goal average. The only threat for Yale is Baltimorean Bruce Smith, who has accounted for six of Yale's 17 points in 0-5 Ivy play.
But in its fledgling three-win streak, Harvard has tallied 31 times, and the Bulldogs will be fielding its best on defense, Larry Wexler, to try to contain big gun John Hagerty.
