Strong pitching and a ten-hit attack Monday powered the freshman nine past an MIT squad which conceded the game with two innings remaining to give the Crimson a 6-1 victory and a 3-0 season mark.
Steve Schwarzberg surrendered three hits, walked one and struck out three batters in his four inning stint on the mound. Bill Collatos came on in the fifth and pitched three flawless innings, striking out four and giving one free pass.

Jeff Coughenow, who spearheaded the Crimson artillery, smashed a hit in the second inning with two runners on to provide the margin of victory. Shortstop Fran Cronin led all batters with two hits in four at bats.
First-year coach John Hughes is highly optimistic about the team's chances this season, although he admits that the team performances "were against average opposition, and nobody with any awesome hitters. We'll play a real ball team when we go up to Brown Saturday," he said.
The 36-member squad, including 17 high school team captains, should go undefeated, Hughes said. "We've got enough depth so that despite our lack of blinding speed, I'd be kind of disappointed if we don't finish the season 15-0," Hughes said.
"I'd like to really develop as many boys as I can to help the varsity next year, plus winning, of course," he added.
The team's two victories were against Leicester Junior College and Phillips Exeter Academy.
