The members of the Harvard Graduate School of Education Student Association Cabinet wish to add their support to the protests raised against the repressive policies of the Greek Government, in particular against the arrest and treatment of students at the Metsovian Institute in Athens.

We feel strongly that legitimate protests by students for the abolition of unjust and unfair laws is a freedom that should be guaranteed by every government. To sentence students to jail terms without a fair trial for verbal insults to police officers is a mockery of the heritage of democratic principles which originated in Greece.

We offer our support and sympathy both to the students arrested and to their families. And we stand ready to do, within our power, whaterver we can to help end this brutal injustice.

On behalf of the Student Association Cabinet, John A.Bers   President
