Cagers To Play Columbia

By Douglas E. Schoen

The cagers will face a resurging Columbia five and an almost dormant Cornell quintet in action this weekend at the IAB.

Coach Bob Harrison's ballclub could have a tough time tonight against the Lions. The men in blue gave Penn and Princeton fits last weekend, losing in the final minutes of the second half to both ball clubs.

Bob Evans and Ron Boyd lead Columbia, carrying most of the scoring load. Evans has been scoring at an 18-point-a-game clip, while Boyd is averaging 16 points a game.

The Crimson beat Columbia three weeks ago in New York, 64-59.

The big question surrounding the Cornell game Saturday is not whether the Big Red can win, but whether they can field a ballclub.

The Big Red squad has been decimated by internal feuding and their manpower was cut down to seven live bodies at one point in the season. The Crimson beat them in Ithaca, 78-72, three weeks ago.
