Bob Harrison Says Title Within Reach

Crimson basketball coach Bob Harrison expressed optimism Tuesday about the team's chances for beating Brown tonight and going on to take the Ivy League championship. He feels the squad is finally pulling out its annual post-exam slump.

"This year there was only one day on which all the team practiced together during the two-week break," Harrison said, adding that the team has always had troubles after exams.

The coach is hopeful about tonight's contest, although the Crimson dropped a game to the Bruins earlier in the season. "Sure I think we can beat Brown," Harrison said. "All we have to do is hold them down in the early going, and then their quickness won't do them much good."

Jim Fitzsimmons may not start the next couple of games, according to Harrison. "Fitz has been distracted by some personal problems lately, and as a consequence his game has been a little off," he said.

Harvard, which is 5-3 in league play, lost key games to Penn, Princeton and Brown by close margins, but Harrison believes that the Crimson still has a shot at the Ivy title.

"We can beat Brown this weekend and we can beat Penn and Princeton down there; it's just a question of putting it all together," he said.
