J.V. Hockey Team Overwhelms B.U. In 'Sweet' 9-3 Win

Harvard's junior varsity hockey team exploded in the second period yesterday against Boston University to clinch its third victory of the season by the devastating margin of 9-3.

Harvard goalkeeper George Anderson, aided by a top-notch defense, held B.U. to one goal per period. Action between the two teams during the first period was about even with Boston and Harvard each taking one point.

Suddenly in the second period, the Harvard team--in the words of Crimson wing Gordy Scannell--"just exploded." The defense held B.U. to one score, and the Harvard offense mercilessly attacked on the other end of the ice, tallying eight points in the period.

"It seemed like everything we shot went in," Scannell said.

Sweet Victory

B.U.'s showing was poor for such a highly ranked junior varsity team. Previous contests between the two squads have resulted in tight contests. Larry Piatelli, who assisted Paul Haley in one of the eight goals of the second period, said yesterday it was a "sweet victory to beat B.U. by such a big margin."
