Freshmen Cagers Crush B.C. To Continue Undefeated Streak

Harvard's freshman basketball team continued to overwhelm its opposition as it soundly defeated the Boston College J.V.s. 84-59, last night in the IAB.

The victory boosts the cagers to an impressive 4-0 record.

With just a few seconds elapsed in the game, Brian Banks, Harvard's 6 ft 7 in. center, scored on a layup and gave the Crimson a lead they never lost.

Banks finished the night with 15 points, but it was his game high 15 rebounds and overall defensive play which proved most important in securing the victory.

High Scorer

Jonas Honick, Harvard's 6 ft. 2 in. forward, led all scorers with 17 points. Scoring consistently from the outside, Jeffrey Hill followed Honick with 16 points.

Todd Hooks and Joseph Leondis also contributed greatly in the victory, scoring 10 and 8 points respectively.

Bill Lally led the Boston College J.V.s with 11 points. Following Lally were Jerry Jergens and Walter Watts, both with 10 points. Watts also finished the night with 11 rebounds.

Boston College could never get going as the Crimson cagers pressed their opponents into committing errors throughout the game. Banks led the aggressive play by blocking a number of Boston College shots. Banks fouled out with 9:10 left in the game, but Boston College failed to capitalize on the situation.

"It was a team effort, a solid team effort," Coach Mike Jarvis said afterwards. "In the second half we came through defensively. We only let them have 23 points in that half and that's the way I like it. We never had any problems scoring."

"As it's been all year, it was an overall team effort," Jarvis said. "What more could I ask for?"
