The honors just keep on rolling in for members of the 1973 Harvard football team, and once again quarterback Jim Stoeckel and split end Pat McInally have drawn attention for their efforts.
Stoeckel has been selected as the winner of the Asa S. Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League player of the year for 1973. The award voted by the eight Ivy coaches is presented annually by the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials to the player who displays outstanding qualities of "sportsmanship, leadership, competitive spirit, contributions to the team and accomplishments on the field."
McInally, Stoeckel's favorite target, became the first Crimson player to earn All-American honors in 18 seasons when he was named this week to the Newspaper Enterprise Association second team.
McInally ranked as the second leading receiver in the major college division this season with 56 grabs in nine games for a 6.2 average. McInally established Harvard and New England major college records for catches per game.
