Tell It to O'Neill

ALL AMERICANS must write to their congressmen calling for Richard Nixon's impeachment, but it is of paramount importance that congress's most influential leaders receive an abundance of mail urging Nixon's removal from office.

Cambridge residents must take advantage of the powerful position held by its Congressman, Thomas P. O'Neill. As majority leader in the House of Representatives, O'Neill is a crucial figure in any drive to impeach Nixon. He is the second most influential man in the House--only Speaker of the House Carl Albert has greater authority--and his support for impeachment would sway wavering congressmen to join the impeachment drive.

For these reasons, residents in O'Neill's eighth district must flood O'Neill's Boston office in the JFK Building with telegrams, phone calls and letters. O'Neill pays close attention to activity at his local office; a few hundred phone calls (O'Neill's number in Boston is 223-2784) will convince the majority leader that popular support exists for impeachment.

O'Neill said Sunday that he will have to take a serious look at impeachment. A large-scale demonstration at his JFK Building office combined with voluminous mail will be the most effective means of convincing O'Neill to abandon his hesitant position and lead the drive to indict Richard Nixon.
