Golfers to Face Yale and Princeton In Big Three Championship Today

Harvard golfers meet Yale and Princeton this afternoon for the Big Three Championship at the Brookline Country Club.

The golfers lost to both Penn and Columbia in another Ivy League contest last Friday, but have shaken off the losses with consistent wins this week. Sporting a 6-2 record, the golfers hope to extend their streak and build momentum for the Eastern in today's contest.

Harvard will be led by Skip Kistner, Quinn Smith, and Skip Barry who all shot 78's in Wednesday's win over Brown. The Crimson has turned in a good week in preparation for today's match.

On Monday the team successfully defended its title in the Greater Boston Collegiate Championships at the Concord Country Club beating Boston College by 32 strokes.

Conked Out

"We've almost conked ourselves out this week with 36 holes at the Boston tournament and 18 holes against Brown, but we're pretty well psyched up now," senior Terry Wynne said yesterday.

Andy Marks, Bill Salatich and either John Stoviak or Tom Backenstose will also play in the best-five-out-of-seven scores match.

Yale is one of the better teams in the Ivy League having won the Easterns in New Haven last year. "This match should be a good preview of the Easterns next weekend." Wynne said.

Yale Advantage

While Yale will have the advantage at home next weekend. Harvard has the advantage this afternoon. The Country Club has small greens that require especially good chip shots and consistent putting. Yale and Princeton are used to courses with large, more open greens.
