To the Editors of the Crimson:

In your issue of March 14 you published a report by Mark Frazier that upper-income condominiums might be built on the JFK Library site, and you quoted me as a member of the Neighborhood 10 Association who confirmed that report. Since I am not a member of that group I am not in a position to confirm the report, nor to speak for the Association. Specifically, I cannot state that the Association plans to fight any upper income or high-rise housing that might be constructed, although I certainly hope that it will, along with many other people in this city. We don't need luxury housing. We need low and middle-income housing with rents set according to the tenants' ability to pay.

Since I spoke to the Crimson as a private citizen, and not as a representative of any group, my remarks should be viewed as one person's opinion. It is my opinion that it would be scandalous for the Kennedys to put up luxury apartments on the site, or to allow their family name or the memory of the President and the Attorney General to be used or exploited by others for that purpose. I don't know what the Kennedy family's plans are. James H. Barton '56
