It was Christmas-come-early at Phillips Academy in Andover this week, as an anonymous benefactor mailed over 800 marijuana cigarettes to students there--from a fictitious Harvard address.
The project failed, however, when a student mail-room employee opened his own dope-laced letter and reported it to authorities. Most of the remainder was confiscated by officials.
As for the part that slipped through, Phillips Headmaster Theodore R. Sizer '59 offered a few words of confidence. Students "will know what to do with them," he said. "They'll either give it back or destroy it."
