Dave Cowens hit 25 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead the Celtics to a 96-87 victory over Cleveland last night in the NBA.

The Celtics jumped to a 30-20 first-quarter lead, but the Cavaliers pulled to within four points before in the second period. Two foul shots by Cowens lifted the Celts to a 48-40 lead at the halftime buzzer however.

The spread at one point in the third period reached 18 points. Jo Jo White: Boston scored 22 points and snagged 11 rebounds.
