Two Harvard students have been elected to the Advisory Board of the Massachusetts chapter of Common Cause, a national either lobbying organizations.
Charles H. Perkins '73 and Mitchell P. Ash, a graduate student in History, were elected last week to three-year terms by the lobby group's 12,000 Massachusetts members.
Peter I. Keyes, the organization's lobbyist in Boston, said yesterday that "the eight-member board will help guide Common Cause in its Campaign for more responsive government in Massachusetts."
Ash said he became active in Common Cause last year because "none of the major political parties in this country are capable of effecting any significant change in America's political structure."
Perkins, the only other student on the board, said that he would "first work to restructure the state legislature to force it to become more responsive to the people's needs."
Ash said that Common Cause has represented its national membership of 200.000 by lobbying in Washington to support environmental legislation, bills to end the war, and women's rights, Perkins noted the Common Cause was the only son feminist organization its support the women's rights amendment.
