Ezra Pound, the poet, died last night in Venice, Italy. He was 87 Monday.
Pound was med for treason after World War II because of his pro-Mussolini broadcasts over Italian radio. But he was good to his fellow poets.
"It's very hard to think of anyone in the history of literature whose services were more generous and perceptive than his," Harry T. Levin '33, Babbitt Professor of Comparative Literature, said last night.
