Yale squeaked out a last minute win over Columbia, and Dartmouth mashed lowly Brown to remain undefeated along with Harvard in the Ivy League following last weekend's football action.
The last round's most significant game may prove to be Harvard's surprising rout of Cornell. Cornell, last year's co-Ivy champs, are now in a shaky position to repeat the honor.
Another important development was Yale's virtual elimination of Columbia from the Ivy title race. The Lions, a top ranked Ivy team at the start of the year, leading 14-12 with less than three minutes remaining the game, were intercepted on the Eli's three yard line.
Yale produced the game winning points three plays later when halfback Dick Jauron scored on an 87-yard sideline sprint. Columbia tried valiantly for a last minute tally, but failed to complete a fourth down pass and again relinquished the ball Yale on their own five. The Elis scored once more and won 28-14
Dartmouth set a school scoring record by running up 35 points in the second quarter of their contest against last place. Brown Dartmouth quarterback Steve Stetson was particularly outstanding as he ran for one touchdown and passed for two more in their easy win at Hanover.
Penn won their second non-league game of the season against Lehigh, 30-27, as halfback Adolph Bellizeare scored twice and tied Penn's one game rushing record with a 214 yard performance.
Princeton, weaker this year than expected, lost to Colgate, 35-26, despite the efforts of their new starting quarterback junior Fred Dalzell. Colgate's quarterback Tom Paar, directed his wishbone offense masterfully and scored three touchdowns on the ground and added two more passing.
