Your reporter distorted my statement in his story of December 15 about the alleged harassment of graduate students by Dr. Herrnstein.

The story reads: Purvin said Sunday that Herrnstein never told him that he would not sign the form.

What I actually told your reporter was that while Dr. Herrnstein never told me he would not sign the form, his final word to me on the subject was that he saw no reason why he should make any extra work for himself. I took this to be a refusal, appealed to the Office of Studies of the Graduate School of Education and they told me to submit the form to Dr. Roger Brown. George Purvin
