Racquetmen Rout Dartmouth, Take 27 Straight Games

Harvard's varsity squash team continued to devastate the opposition as the Crimson crushed Dartmouth, 9-0, Saturday on the Indian's home courts.

Harvard expected more opposition from the Indians, who beat Williams earlier this season, 5-4. But when it was all over, the Crimson had swept the match in 27 consecutive games to preserve its unbeaten record.

Vosters Impressive

The most impressive victory of the day came at number seven, where junior Neil Vosters dominated his opponent, 15-4, 15-3, 15-2. Vosters has an extremely hard serve, and his Dartmouth opponent was completely at a loss trying to figure out how to return it.

The only other important development of the match was Dave Fish's performance at number-two. Fish sat out the end of December matches because of tendonitis in his elbow. At that time Fish hoped rest could improve his condition.

Yesterday he returned to the courts and easily handled Dartmouth's number two, Lloyd Ucko, 15-10, 17-14, 15-7. But after the match, Fish said his elbow was bothering him and he was disappointed in its present condition.

Peter Briggs once again led the squad to victory at number-one. Briggs had no trouble defeating his opponent, Mark Donahue, in three straight games, 15-6, 15-9, 15-8.

Juniors Advance

Two juniors, Dan Gordon and Andy Wiegand proved they can successfully advance on the squad from last year's positions (six and seven) to higher spots (three and four). Gordon took his challenger, 15-8, 15-7, 15-11, while Wiegand was having little more opposition, 15-11, 15-11, 15-8.

Lowell Pratt also successfully advanced on the ladder. Playing at number nine before the Christmas break, Pratt won Saturday at six, 18-15, 15-10, 15-9.

Harvard's only sophomores on the squad. Archie Gwathmey and Glen Whitman, rounded out the rout. Gwathmey won 15-6, 15-12, 15-11, and Whitman completed the sweep at nine, 15-9, 15-8, 15-11.

In an exhibition match, the Crimson number ten. Bob Sedgewick added to the shutout with a three game sweep, 15-4, 15-5, 15-8.

Freshmen Also Win

Following in the varsity's footsteps, the Harvard freshmen also took the Little Green Indians, 9-0, in 27 straight games.

Not far off the pace, the Junior Varsity kept up the winning traditions by trouncing the Bowdoia varsity, 3-1, at Hemenway on Saturday.
