A public hearing was held last night at Hilles Library to discuss the possibility of improving the athletic facilities of the Harvard-Radcliffe community. A second hearing will be held at 7:30 p. m. tonight at the Kirkland Junior Common Room.
In the informal discussion. Henry Wood and Ed Carfagno, representatives of the architectural firm of Kallmann and McKinnall, asked for the preferences and priorities of the students living at Radcliffe.
The response to a questionnaire distributed in the Radcliffe dorms was disappointing, and only six students attended the meeting. Those present were concerned mainly with providing for purely recreational activities as opposed to varsity and intramural sports. Their first priority was a new swimming pool in the vicinity of Radcliffe.
"No concrete plans have been drawn up as yet, and the purpose of these meetings is to assimilate information about what the students want," Wood said.
The rebuilding program will probably include a new basketball court and an olympic pool with much greater spectator capacity for varsity competition.
