Water Poloists to Host Boston Invitational Meet

Concluding its spring season this weekend, the Harvard water polo team will host five teams in the second annual Boston Invitational Tournament at the 1AB. Play is scheduled for all day Saturday, with the finals set for Sunday afternoon.

Heading the list of the Crimson's competition is the defending champion and number one seeded New York Athletic Club. Last year's runner-up, the Nonthern Virginia Aquatic Club, is seeded number two, while Michigan State and Harvard are rated three and four. Other teams entered include Northeastern and the Lower Moreland Athletic Club from southeastern Pennsylvania.

"We expected more teams but Yale had its head coach fired, so they've decided they're gonna hold off until the fall, and two clubs from Chicago ducked out on us," captain Mike Graff said.

For the preliminaries on Saturday, the field will be divided into two three-team divisions for round-robin play. The two top teams in each division will meet Sunday morning in the semi-final matches before the championship contest at noon.

Going into the tournament. Harvard holds a 6-3 record. Although basically a young squad, this weekend's action will be the last at Harvard for seniors Tom McGill, Steve Renard, Pete Kertes, and Law student Leland Gaust.
