Penn's head basketball coach Dick Harter resigned his position Monday to accept the head coaching job at the University of Oregon.
Harter, whose teams compiled a 104-53 record during his five years as head coach-including 53-3 during the last two seasons-said that the new location and the high calibre of Oregon's basketball were the major factors in his decision.
He signed a four-year contract well above the $20.000 he received at Peun, Philadelphia papers reported.
Under Harter, the Quakers have captured the Ivy League title for two consecutive years with identical 14-0 records, and this past winter advanced to the sem-finals of the Eastern Region in the NCAA's before bowing to Villanova.
