Past defeats have all been forgotten. After compiling a 10-1 record in the regular season, the Harvard soccer team won its third straight New England regional title, and advanced to the semi-finals by beating Hartwick, 4-1. Now only Howard and the winner of the St. Louis-San Francisco match stand in the way of Harvard's first national championship.

St. Louis is the defending champion and the odds-on favorite in the tournament. Howard made it to the semi-finals by beating Penn State, 8-0. Nevertheless, Harvard's explosive offense and versatile defense makes it a contender, and captain Charlie Thomas and the other seniors who played at San Jose two years ago should provide the experience and determination needed to win.
