Two former members of the President's Council of Economic Advisors will debate the merits of President Nixon's new economic policies at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Mather House Junior Common Room. The general public is invited.
James S. Duesenberry. Maier Professor of Money and Banking, who served on President Johnson's Council, will debate Hendrik Houthakker. professor of Economics, who recently left President Nixon's Council after a two-year term.
In predicting the stands that the two economists will take. W. James Adams '69, tutor of economics in Mather House, said yesterday, 'There will probably be a strange reversal of roles with Houthakker attacking Nixon's policies while Duesenberry defends them. I expect that Houthakker, who recently left the Administration, will be able to shed new light on what Phase Two really means."
