Crimson quarterback Eric Crone and Heisman Trophy candidate Ed Marinaro lead the Ivy League contingent on the final ECAC weekly all-star squad of the year.
Crone threw for two touchdowns and completed nine out of 14 passes enroute to Harvard's 35-16 shellacking of the Elis last Saturday. Crone's 138-yard passing performance in the first half led the Crimson to a 28-2 advantage at the intermission.
Marinaro, a permanent installment on the ECAC weekly teams this year, capped his outstanding collegiate career with five touchdowns and 230 yards, as Cornell routed Penn, 41-13, last weekend.
The victory enabled the Big Red to grab a share of the Ivy crown along with Dartmouth. Marinaro wound up with 4175 rushing yards in his three years at Ithaca.
Other Ivy League representatives on the squad included linebackers Bob Soltess of Dartmouth and Paul Kaliades of Columbia.
Joining Crone and Marinaro in the backfield were Penn State's quarterback John Hufnagel, who passed for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the Nittany Lions' 55-18 slaughter of Pitt, and Jim Jennings of Rutgers. Jennings, a sophomore, carried the ball 21 times for 108 yards and three touchdowns against Colgate.
