Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
The entire 1971 United States World Figure Skating Team will perform in Harvard's Watson Rink this weekend. The proceeds of the benefit will be donated to the Boston Jimmy Fund of the Children's Cancer Research Foundation.
The program, sponsored by Eliot House, will feature several past Olympic participants and many current Olympic aspirants. Included in the "Evening with Champions" are:
*John Misha Petkevitch, 1971 United States and North American Men's Champion;
*Julie Lynn Holmes, 1971 World Ladies Silver Medalist, and 1969, 1970, 1971 United States Ladies Silver Medalist;
*Janet Lynn, 1969, 1970, 1971 United States Ladies Champion;
*Jo Jo Starbuck and Kenneth Shelley, 1969, 1970, 1971 United States Pair Champions;
*Judy Schwomeyer and James Sladky, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971 United States Dance Champions;
*and Gordon McKellan, Suna Murray, Mark and Melissa Militano, Barbara Brown and Doug Berndt, Ann and Skip Miller, Mary Karen Campbell and Johnny Johns--1971 National Silver and Bronze Medalists (Men's, Ladies', Pairs, and Dance.)
Dick Button, former U.S. and Olympic Champion, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the program, in addition, many Boston area skaters will also participate in the benefit.
Petkevich organized a similar benefit last year that netted over $15,000 for the Jimmy Fund.
Petkevich has received support from area sponsors, including governor Francis Sargent, Senators Edward Kennedy and Edward Brooke, Mayor Kevin White, and President Derek Bok. Petkevich has also received a letter of personal support from President Nixon.
"An Evening with Champions" will have three performances at Watson Rink: Friday, October 29, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 30, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Admission is $3.00 and tickets may be purchased at the Harvard Athletic Ticket Office, 60 Bolyston St.
