Yale, never considered a strong contender for the Ivy title, has suddenly jumped into the Ivy league race with a convincing 4-1 thrashing of Columbia last Saturday. The Bulldogs also have a 1-1 tie with Brown to their credit.
Also last weekend, Brown finally got on the winning track with a devastating 7-2 romp over Dartmouth, and Harvard extended its unbeaten record with a 3-2 victory over nationally ranked Cornell.
Yale's attack Saturday was led by junior John Clark, who tallied twice. Clark led the Eli in scoring last fall but has been hobbled with injuries recently. Yale goalie Ken Pasternak; who also has been sidelined this season, has now held the opposition to one goal in two games. Pasternak turned aside 11 shots Saturday.
The Crimson won its sixteenth consecutive Ivy match on Saturday to tie the record previously held by Brown. Harvard's seniors have never lost a match in Ivy competition. The Crimson's Felix Adedeji scored twice against Cornell to take the initial lead in the Ivy scoring race.
