Marinaro Leads National Rushing Race

Cornell's Ed Marinaro, who ran for 146 yards in 32 carries in the Big Red's victory over Harvard, held onto his national rushing lead with an average of 199 yards gained per game.

Pruitt, who has increased his ground average to 11.2 yards per play, the highest by a major collegian since Army's Glenn Davis wound up with 11.5 in 1945, also trails Marinaro in scoring.

The Cornell ace has been averaging 15 points per game to 12 for Pruitt and Penn State's Lydell Mitchell.

Auburn's Pat Sullivan, who won the national total offense title last season on the basis of his running, is major college football's leading passer with an average of 18.2 completions per game.

Don Strock of Virginia Tech, second to Sullivan in passing with 17.6 completions per game, continues to lead in total offense on an average of 229.6 yards per game.
