Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
Over 500 students in Dunster and Eliot Houses must have their identification card pictures retaken because of separate camera malfunctions at registration.
In one House, according to Omnicard president Edward McCaleb, the film cassette was improperly loaded, causing the pictures to become overexposed and unacceptable. In the other, the numbers identifying the pictures didn't print, making it impossible for Omnicard to match names to faces.
Malfunctions of this magnitude occur only four or five times a year, McCaleb said. The total number of retakes in 500,000 photos last year was eight-tenths of one percent. Omnicard absorbs the total cost of retakes, which will be $200 to $300 in Harvard's case.
The Photographers Are Back
Photographers for Omnicard were in Dunster and Eliot yesterday and will be there again today. Students whose pictures have to be retaken won't receive their I.D.s for another two weeks. Their temporary cards are revalidated when the new pictures are shot and will be good until their new cards are ready.
Most of Harvard's identification cards were shipped out yesterday afternoon. Sterling Smith, assistant purchasing agent for the Harvard Office of Purchase, said yesterday that he hopes they can be distributed Monday through the senior tutors and advisors and through the office of the Freshman Dean.
