Penn Cagers Beat Tigers

Penn's Corky Calhoun hit a long jump shot with two seconds left in regulation play to tie last night's Penn-Princeton basketball game, and the Quakers went on to win in overtime, 66-62.

The undefeated Quakers, ranked fourth in the nation, trailed by seven points, 56-49, with only two minutes remaining. But four Princeton starters fouled out of the game and the Tiger substitutes missed several important free throws in the closing minutes.

Sophomore Brian Taylor played an outstanding game, scoring 21 points before fouling out. With Taylor off the court, Penn dominated the overtime session. Calhoun and guard Dave Wohl led the Quakers with 16 points apiece.

The victory gave Penn a half-game lead in the Ivy standings.
