Two critical losses early this month enabled Harvard teams to be reported on in two places in the recent issue of Sports Illustrated.

A long article on Penn's basketball team and coach Dick Harter's rules on hair length told about the Quakers' close call when they played the Crimson January 7. Harvard led by six points at halftime before losing, 81-62.

Harter called the first-half performance by his undefeated team the "worst" of the season, but described the second half as "unquestionably" the best half of basketball since ?e's been at Penn.

The "Faces in the Crowd" section included Dave Reece, the All-American goalie who helped Vermont upset Harvard's hockey team, 3-2, January 6. The Crimson had never lost to a college division team at Watson Rink.
