The Committee on Rights and Responsibilities yesterday punished ten more students for participating in various incidents of obstructive picketing last month.
The committee suspended one student until next February for his part in the picketing which temporarily blocked CRR members from entering their hearing rooms in Holyoke Center on Saturday, May 16.
It also placed five students under varying degrees of warning for the May 11 picketing. Four other students who had already been suspended until February for prior infractions were given extended te?ms of suspension until June for participating in the May 16 picket.
At the same time, the CRR, acting on an appeal by one student who had been suspended last month for taking part in the breakup of the Center for International Affairs Visiting Committee, reversed its decision and suspended the requirement to withdraw. The student will have to leave in the event of further misconduct.
With the exception of any appeal that might stem from its latest decisions, the CRR has now completed its function as an "interim" disciplinary committee. The permanent CRR, endorsed by the Faculty last month, will take office a week from tomorrow.
The interim CRR heard 170 cases and dispensed 138 punishments during its nine-month existence.
