YSA Charges SDS 'Assault'

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Spokesmen for the Young Socialist Alliance (YSA) charged yesterday that four SDS members assaulted, knocked down and kicked Robert Bresnahan-former Boston coordinator for the New Mobilization Committee-at a conference of the New England YSA in Burr Hall yesterday afternoon.

John Barzman, one of the spokesmen, said that seven members of SDS and the Progressive Labor Party were involved in a premeditated assault upon Bresnahan. He claimed that four persons attacked Bresnahan as he climbed the staircase from the basement in Burr Hall, while three others sealed off the top of the stairs.

The alleged assault on Bresnahan occurred a little after 1:30 p. m., when many participants in the YSA-sponsored New England Socialist Education Conference had left Burr Hall for lunch. One SDS member who was in Burr during the incident denied last night that fight was premeditated. Bresnahan was treated yesterday afternoon for facial lacerations.
